I'm not going to comment on all the controversy surrounding Fifty Fifty and the membership changes.
Instead I want to elaborate on something I've noted before; Athena's nationality.
She's Swedish. Although I recognize that Sweden is no paradise upon earth, I still think there is much to admire about the country. Since I find its history and culture fascinating, you can imagine how overjoyed this kpop fan was to discover a Swedish kpop idol; Athena Yang is of Korean and Taiwanese parentage, but grew up in Sweden.
In addition, her being a Swedish pop celebrity in the making but looking absolutely nothing like what most non-Scandinavians imagine a typical Swedish woman to be - blonde and "Nordic" - is good for Europe, good for the west, and good for the Kpop industry, while being one in the eye for racists and white supremacists, be they based in Stockholm or Washington DC.
Now I'm going to think about meatballs, egalitarianism, and whether I should include "Midnight Special" in my "Best Kpop of 2025" list...

Fifty Fifty --Midnight Special
While performing Midnight Special on the the music shows, Fifty Fifty have been missing one member, Keena.
Although this stage was only released a couple of days ago, it was apparently recorded before Keena went on hiatus.
This stage appealed to me not only because it features the full group performing a song I love but also because of the styling; I am particularly taken with the blue tops worn by Hana and Athena.
In the next post on this thread I will identify the members.

Although this is the second "Kpop in Public" video I have posted in less than an hour, I would not want you to think I watch videos in this genre very frequently.
This evening, though, YouTube served this up, presumably because I have been watching the Fifty Fifty -- Midnight Special My Music Taste Stage video a lot recently.
Does Kpop lend itself to this kind of fan made video more than western pop does? I would guess the answer is "yes", because the Kpop industry places such emphasis on group choreography.
Watching this video made me aware of what a narrow range of body types one sees in Kpop. I am still trying to sort out my feelings about the industry's selectivity in this respect.
From the Ukrainian flags displayed in the YouTube description and the name of dance crew, I would guess that this lovely video was shot in Odesa. How sad that this cosmopolitan location and the innocent young people there should be threatened by the cynical belligerence of the Kremlin's kleptocrat in chief!
