This past week on our mobile route, we walked around downtown Boston distributing sandwiches, water, harm reduction supplies, snacks, wound care kits, socks, and toiletries. To the encampment, we brought 20 cases of water, 180 lbs of ice, snacks, harm reduction supplies, bug spray, bedding, wound care supplies, and a hot meal to the encampment. We also made a bonus Labor Day trip with a hot meal of BBQ chicken, french potato salad, and a corn, tomato, and basil salad with a lime vinaigrette.
Many people who are unhoused have chronic health conditions, and while healthy meals are a crucial aspect of treating common conditions like heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes, it’s significantly harder to regularly get healthy meals when you’re unhoused. We do our best to bring healthy (and delicious) meals cooked by volunteers.
We spend about $155 on sandwiches and meals each week, and volunteers fund other groceries and canned goods out of pocket. If you’d like to help support please consider becoming a regular donor using the Ko-fi link in our linktree.
