When I was a kid there was a guy with a little truck who went from town to town selling fruit & vegetables. It made fresh produce accessible for families, at low cost. I’d love to have my own fleet of trucks to do the same thing everywhere, to support local farmers and feed families.

#ProudBlue #ResistanceUnited #Pinks Good morning, friends! While Americans suffer, DonOLD flies to FL on our dime, no canceled flights for him or his goons! He surrounds himself with idiot sycophants vying for his attention. This not our America. Looking forward to his downfall. #FeedThePeople

@canayjun I suggest adding hashtags to your post, with the area info so it reaches more folks in that area ✌️

[Original post from 10/29/2024 on our Instagram account. State, police, and DCR threats to the existence of this encampment have not stopped and so it remains relevant.]

In response to police action and a 48 hour notice to vacate placed on the encampment we support, Warm Up Boston took to a rotary along Memorial Drive to show the people of Cambridge and Boston that this brutality must come to an end and real solutions to homelessness must be pursued. We held a banner stating "CRIMINALIZATION DOES NOT END HOMELESSNESS. HOUSING AND RESOURCES ENDS HOMELESSNESS." We will not sit back and watch our neighbors be dehumanized and displaced.

We know this leads to more death and they know this leads to more death. This violence is the dark underbelly of the political establishment they shroud in the language of public health and safety, pointing to non profits they choose to underfund. Their programs and services are not enough and they know this. A world in which homelessness doesn't exist is one that gives power to the working class and takes money and power away from the landlords, capitalists, and their pet politicians. As long as anyone continues to lose housing, everyone's housing remains insecure.

We are committed to ending homelessness in Boston and everywhere. And you can help us by joining today. If becoming a member isn't within reach for you, getting educated on housing and pushing back on anti-homeless sentiment where you live and work goes a long way.

Caring about housing and homelessness isn't about being a good person or feeling bad for someone. It's about standing up for what's right and realizing that capitalism is inseparable from the incarceration, dehumanization, and killing of our community members. We want all members of our community to be treated like human beings, an end to the violence, and basic survival needs to be met in our society for everyone.

How this Rooftop Grew 20,000 lbs of Food

Permaculture Instructor Andrew Millison visits the biggest rooftop farm on the West Coast of the US located in Oakland, California.

Designed and built by Benjamin Fahrer of Top Leaf Farms and operated by Deep Medicine Circle, this is an impressive project bringing food production, food security, and food justice to the heart of the city.

This past week on our mobile route, we walked around downtown Boston distributing sandwiches, water, harm reduction supplies, snacks, wound care kits, socks, and toiletries. To the encampment, we brought 20 cases of water, 180 lbs of ice, snacks, harm reduction supplies, bug spray, bedding, wound care supplies, and a hot meal to the encampment. We also made a bonus Labor Day trip with a hot meal of BBQ chicken, french potato salad, and a corn, tomato, and basil salad with a lime vinaigrette.

Many people who are unhoused have chronic health conditions, and while healthy meals are a crucial aspect of treating common conditions like heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes, it’s significantly harder to regularly get healthy meals when you’re unhoused. We do our best to bring healthy (and delicious) meals cooked by volunteers.

We spend about $155 on sandwiches and meals each week, and volunteers fund other groceries and canned goods out of pocket. If you’d like to help support please consider becoming a regular donor using the Ko-fi link in our linktree.

This week at the encampment, we distributed a hot meal prepared by a comrade from @baystate_johnbrown and @thenetwork_ne, 180 pounds of ice, 20 cases of water, snacks, and safer drug use supplies as part of our harm reduction efforts. On our mobile distro, we also distributed dozens of sandwiches, seven cases of water, cold juice, toiletries, socks, snacks, and safer drug use supplies throughout Downtown Crossing, Boston Common, Back Bay, and South Station. For volunteers at both distros, we held drop-in seminars on harm reduction principles and practices.

We’ve also been doing lots of tabling lately, handing out information on Warm Up Boston and our material aid programs. Thank you again to everyone who has invited us to table this summer, and to everyone who has stopped by our table!

We are always excited to welcome new comrades. Send us a DM or email ([email protected]) if you are interested!
