The whole team at @fairsharing would like to thank David Tomkins for his recent 3-month contract with us as a curator. πŸ₯‡ David joined our #FAIRsharingCommunityChampions programme back in 2023 joined us for some targeted curation over the past few months; every time a manually-curated database like FAIRsharing adds a new field to our record schema, it’s not just *future* records that are curated as they are created. *Every single one* of the thousands of older records need re-curating with that new field. David has provided a targeted reviewed 1000s of records as part of the recent addition of object types to FAIRsharing. He's reviewed all of the database registry and, together with our team, has also reviewed our standards registry. All of his database updates are in FAIRsharing now, with his standards updates to follow in the coming weeks.

Find out more about David's time with us in a blog post he has authored: https://blog.fairsharing.org/?p=1057

Wonder if your database record has a new object type yet? Why not head over to FAIRsharing and take a look?! The image below is just one of 1000s of edits David has done as part of this work πŸ₯³

Happy New Year! As we move into 2025, I'd like to celebrate the work of our @fairsharing maintainers and #FAIRsharingCommunityChampions over the last year, and welcome our newest Champions :-)

Firstly, a particular congratulations to @lnanderscience and #KayBurrows for being our Top Contributors for 2024!

In 2024, our Champions made over 2100 edits, updated 325 records and added 64 new records. Averaged over the year, that’s more than 40 edits, 6 updated records and 1 new record each week! Additionally, 241 maintainers (many of whom visited their record multiple times) made over 2000 edits.

Our focus over the past year was on updating all records in the #policy and #database registries, which is consistent with the large increases you see in updated records in 2024 in the image below. Collaborations also helped increase our coverage, such as the one with #JoyDavidson from the DCC, who led a @fairimpact_eu support action which added both more European institutional and funder policies to our registry but also Champions to our programme (such as #ClaraParenteBoavida).

We have many exciting things planned for 2025 with and for our community, including (but not limited to) our work with our TIER2 Project and OSTrails colleagues!

Do you have a thought about how #FAIRsharing could help your community? Please get in touch with us!
