CASIO F-91W
$12.
21 grams.
This watch has told time the same way since 1989.
It doesn't know my heart rate. It has no opinions about whether I've stood up enough today. It will never need a firmware update.
When the battery dies in seven years, I'll press in a new one with a paperclip. That will be the entirety of my obligation to it.

Fad, fashion or fantastic?

This post from @tg resonated with me profoundly particularly after my experience setting up a Pixel last week. That took hours and left me depleted and scornful instead of joyful & excited about a new device.
It's a beautiful post on a gorgeous blog too from the dev of Current RSS for iOS. (I sure hope Current comes out for Android one day.)

#Software devs could learn a thing or two about knowing when something is finished and leaving it alone. #Casio has that lesson in the #f91w

Dear #Californian Politicians,
My #Casio #F91w has an operating system. Your law would seem to require that to also check age, you fuckwits. You're all morons.
