Ocēlōtl cehuetzilizpan 🌱The #F4U #Corsair is one of the few military aircraft my family has had direct experience with. Pretty neat bird. A favourite of my dad and my abuelo, who only lived as long as he did thanks to them providing close air support during the Korean War.
Never thought I’d ever buy a prop plane module for #DCS but here we are. The new #F4U #Corsair, which has been in development for the better part of a decade, is finally here for us to enjoy.
Took off from a carrier and flew around Guam 1944 in the mission editor. The plane flies nice and is surprisingly stable when fully laden. It has a stronger roll moment compared to the TF-51 due to that giant propeller so some rudder trim is definitely in order. Speaking of, the rudder is a bit twitchy so I added a curve to help smooth it out. Haven’t figured out how to fine the cannons or rockets yet but releasing those two giant rockets is wild. They rock the whole aircraft coming off the rail and make a satisfying explosion.
Worth the price? For me it is but that’s for you to determine really. I only got into DCS last year so my time waiting for it was relatively short. Definitely interested to see one of these up against some Zeroes or a MiG-15.

DHMosquitoGoodyear FG-1D Corsair, take off. This aircraft was, like many other Corsairs, built by the Goodyear Co. under licence, hence the US Navy designation FG. A number of Goodyear-built Corsairs were supplied to the Royal Navy under Lend Lease during WW2. The model corresponds to the Vought F4U-1. Corsairs were also built by the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation, but that contract was terminated early.
