Continuing on the #EuropeanEel, we now hear from Sibusisiwe Moyo, using the very popular acoustic telemetry. Based in the chalk streams of southern England, Sibusisiwe's results showed #Eel movement seemed to be driven by the new moon and temperature. Barriers in the river were not an obstacle because of the river's high levels at the time, which appeared to mitigate those barriers #FSBI2025

Light affects fish #ecology. Benjamin Bluck tells us how #ArtificialLight is impacting the #EuropeanEel. Light intensity does not seem to impact passage, and there is a general aversion to both low and high light intensity. When there is good flow, #eel are not generally affected by rapid changes in light #FSBI2025

What impact are #beavers having on fish? James Macarthur tells us! In Tayside, using #environmental DNA (#eDNA), he found that there was no effect of beavers on #AtlanticSalmon and #lamprey. Beavers also had a positive effect on #EuropeanEel. There was a negative effect of pike on Atlantic salmon #FSBI2025
