[1/2] I want to start a debate and hear what the #EuropeanCommunity on #Mastodon thinks about language.

In a union that aspires(someday)to become a macro-country, none of us have English as our native language. Yet, we still use it as the standard.

Several options arise:
1- Choose one of the member countries’ languages as a common language, permanently.
2- Keep using English since it is the most widely spoken global language.
3- The wildest option: should we revive the #Esperanto project?

Well, #Canada is still part of a European, #UK-based #Commonwealth, for one thing.

Then, there is #CETA. And #NATO.

Maybe #EuropeanUnion might not be an appropriate term anymore, maybe #TransatlanticUnion would be more appropriate?

In fact, I favor #CEUM, for the time being.
An #FTA, similar, to how the #EuropeanCommunity got started, back in the day.
