The little things you discover during travel, part 483747 — at least in Denmark and Italy (so I assume it's an EU-wide thing), disposable plastic water bottles all apparently come with caps that stay attached to the bottle when you open them.

It's such a little thing, but it means that it's hard to lose the cap. Which is both convenient and sensible for avoiding waste.

How do we convince US regulators to pick up on this?

Part of the fun, being in Italy, is discovering new Amari. Which is how I stumbled into this: https://www.vecchioamarodelcapo.com/en/red-hot-edition/

Vecchio #Amaro del Capo was the first amaro I ever *liked* - sweeter than I usually go for now, but I still use it as "beginner's Amaro" for folks who are just starting out.

But it's from Calabria, so inevitably (I suppose) they’ve come out with a hot-pepper version.

Not bad: adds a gentle burn to the sweetness. Nothing remarkable, but worth a try.

Red Hot Edition – Vecchio Amaro del Capo

Vecchio Amaro del Capo Red Hot Edition embodies the very essence of Calabria, its homeland. Exciting, energetic - and above all, spicy.

Combining threads, as my #europe2024 trip gets interrupted by discovering New and Fun Side-Effects of #Ozempichttps://jducoeur.dreamwidth.org/1665250.html

tl;dr -- serious over-eating backfires *horribly* due to the Ozempic. And it looks like my weird symptom of “my nose runs after a meal" is probably also some sort of strange side-effect.

Both are excellent, and worth seeking out if you find yourself in Bologna.

Wandering around #Bologna, I wish that Camberville could import the idea of the Portico.

Wide, high-ceilinged sidewalks, where the building extends over them, providing shelter from both sun and rain. What's not to love?

They even make lots of sense for putting restaurant tables out on them (most places here do), and Somerville has been catching that clue lately.

Not sure it will even happen, but something to consider…

Continuing our tour of Europe, we're on to Bologna. Here's a thoroughly stream-of-consciousness end-of-the-evening blog post on Strikes and Food and Amari: https://jducoeur.dreamwidth.org/1663913.html
