Four out of six gold medals for the #Netherlands at the #cyclocross #Eurochamps in #Silvelle, Italy, and another two Bronze medals. Belgium and France with one gold medal each. The medal table of a championship often is pretty telling... #Oranjeboven #cycling

One nice detail of the #UEC #cyclocross #EuroChamps in #Silvelle, Italy was the added diversity within the freshly crowned winners: the men's under23 race was won by Frenchman Mickael Crispin, and the women's under23 race was won by Dutch rider Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado. Honestly great to see #cycling become less white and more diverse.

That was a hard piece of work: Mathieu van der Poel was constantly outnumbered by the Belgian armada, but he kept his cool and beat Eli Iserbyt on the final lap to win the #UEC elite men's #cyclocross #EuroChamps by a scant 3secs. Laurens Sweeck in 3rd, Michael Vanthourenhout in 4th and Lars van der Haar in 5th, so the entire top5 is made up by Dutch and Belgian riders. Business as usual "in het veld" with Pidcock in 8th and Orts in 9th for some international flavour.

The speed has come down in the men's elite #cyclocross #EuroChamps, and a group of Belgian riders is catching up with the lead trio of van der Poel, Vanthourenhout and Iserbyt. That's not good for the Dutch favourite: Too many riders to keep in check and block his lines, better attack hard! One and a half laps to go in #Silvelle.
