Watching #Eternaut made me wonder about something.
In case of a global apocalypse, are there any best practices with regard to #HAMRadio to try to contact others while also preserving energy?
I assume you don't want to leave it on to listen for activity 24/7 when you have limited battery life, so are there set times to scour the frequencies for activity, and to CQ others yourself? I assume something like every hour on the hour? Or perhaps 6h, 12h, 18h and 24h if you need to be even more careful with energy? What about frequencies? Are there specific ones reserved for this?

Seriously enjoying the Netflix adaptation of Héctor Germán Oesterheld's 1950s Argentinian SF comic, The Eternaut. Bit slow to start with, but builds very nicely. Glad a second season has been greenlit.

#Eternaut—Netflix dystopic sci-fi TV (1957 graphic novel)—asks:

Meh.
Glacial character-driven post-apoc fare: distrust, scrounging, rescue, sparse twists & explanation. An allegory of resistance. Author became a guerrilla; disappeared by a military dictator. Season 1 ends at pg144/201 of the comic. S2 pending.
