Two fawn lilies whose flowers are just opening:

Oregon fawn lily (Erythronium oregonum) with yellowish white flowers. Often found on prairie and oak savanah, it likes sunny spots.

Pink fawn lily (Erythronium revolutum) with rose colored flowers. Found on woodland edges and near stream, it prefers moist soils and part-shade.

Both planted last fall.

Up in the mountains the winter still remains. But there are little amazing details that announce the upcoming spring.

#Erythronium 'Pagoda'. So well-known it has its own Wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erythronium_'Pagoda'
I just love how so many California natives scientific names make teenage boys giggle, college boys feel they are clever, and scandalize the prudes. #Erythronium californicum #mendocinocounty #bloomscrolling

I often don't post as many pictures as I think of because I find writing Alt Text very stressful but I'll try with these from my morning walk. Note: I only find it stressful because I want to do it well enough to convey to someone with no or poor sight why I took and like the picture, not just what's in it. Sorry if my alt text is too long! #pennsylvania #spring #sakura #erythronium #forsythia

(Pennsylvania in the springtime is incredibly beautiful and will just keep getting better for weeks.)

#Erythronium 'Pagoda'. Many sources suggest it is a hybrid of E. tuolumnense and E. 'White Beauty' (itself a selection of E. californicum)
