"Mushroom Murderer" Erin Patterson has been found guilty of triple murder, and was today given a life sentence.

The bizarre nature of this crime and her courtroom demeanor has caught a lot of public attention β€” she poisoned the family of her ex-husband with Beef Wellington laced with death cap mushrooms. Three people died, and a fourth nearly died and required months in the hospital to recover. Her ex-husband was also invited to the fateful lunch, but he declined. It appears that she poisoned him on several occasions previously, and he had to undergo surgery to remove a large portion of his bowel to save his life in 2022.

Triple murderer sentenced in Victorian supreme court after killing relatives with a beef wellington lunch laced with death cap mushrooms

The Guardian

AU: Unsurprisingly, Erin Patterson has been sentenced to life in prison for the mushroom murders.

"The judge then set down a parole period of 33 years, taking into account the more than 600 days Patterson has already spent in custody.

"That means she will be eligible for release in 2056, as an 83-year-old."

Anybody else offended that #ErinPatterson, Australia's very own #MushroomMurderer used a claim of #autism as a factor to be considered in sentencing? It feels like the chasing of stereotype in the sand way she claimed the mushrooms were from a Chinese supermarket. People who are autistic universally understand that premeditatedly murdering people is the wrong thing to do.

Honestly, I see a frankly troubling pattern of the behavior.
