From Erev Rav (unfortunately not yet on the fediverse):

"Once again, Dutch mainstream media has presented a dismissive and homogenous picture of a protest, failing to mention the diversity of protesters, singers, and musicians who stood up against artwashing genocide on Sunday. The press also failed to mention that the protest was co-organized by an anti-Zionist Jewish organization rejecting the use of our religious symbols as propaganda and reclaiming our festivities. 🕎🇵🇸"

Yesterday we were at the successful demonstration "Wij zijn allemaal Palestijnen" ("We Are All Palestinians") in #Amsterdam. Yuval Gal from the Antizionist Jewish collective Erev Rav and The Hague #BIJ1 delivered this great inspiring speech.

The original Kristallnacht remembrance was cancelled, because of what happened the last couple of days in Amsterdam. See below for more information.*

This is an alternative meeting with only the organizers (Erev Rav, Platform Stop Racisme en Fascisme and others), a few invited people and press. It starts in Hebrew, and continues in English and Dutch. The audio volume is a bit low, but I think it was better to keep it like this (you can always turn the volume up 😉).

The first and last person that speaks is the one and only Yuval Gal from Erev Rav, who brings an important statement. Other persons that are speaking are representatives from Platform Stop Racisme en Fascisme, Mokum Tegen Fascisme, Een Ander Joods Geluid and many others.

Alternative commemoration of the victims of Nazism and the victims of Zionism. It felt like coming home to grieve. It was a really beautiful ceremony. For the first time in forever the people I personally lost, weren't recuperated for a cause they wouldn't support. Thank you #ErevRav and other organizers. #WWII #nazis #nazism #Palestine #remembrance

 #Rotterdam #BIJ1:

🍉 ❤️ 🖤 🤍 💚 🇵🇸

Hier een collage van foto's die ik van de Instagram-pagina van #BDS Nederland heb gekopieerd (vinden ze vast niet erg 🤗).

⏰ Reminder!

Tomorrow from 11:00 on the Waterlooplein in #Amsterdam, there will be a Jewish led protest (organized by Erev Rav) during the opening ceremony of the National Holocaust Museum. Where Israeli president, genocide enforcer and war criminal Yitzhak Herzog is scheduled to attend. Please come if you are an anti-Zionist Jew, Palestinian or an ally (everyone who's against genocide should be an ally of course)!

Erev Rav published a FAQ about tomorrow, I have copied to this events page (scroll down):

Jewish led protest moment during the opening ceremony of the National Holocaust Museum

📢📢📢 Urgent call to action 📢📢📢 Join us on Sunday the 10th of March! Our pain shall not be instrumentalised! Ceasefire now! Never again is now! We express our deep concern regarding the upcoming opening of the Dutch national Holocaust Museum, where Israeli president Yitzhak Herzog is scheduled to attend alongside Dutch King Willem Alexander. While we honor the memory of our ancestors who perished in the Holocaust and recognize the importance of preserving their memory, we cannot stand by silently while the Genocide in Gaza continues to unfold. We are organizing a peaceful protest moment during the opening ceremony of the National Holocaust Museum. We as Jews deserve better than the instrumentalisation of our pain in order to justify an ongoing Genocide! The resilience of the martyrs of the Holocaust guide our actions because even our dead deserve to rest without having their killings weaponized to normalize the Genocide of the Palestinian people. Join Erev Rav in a Jewish led protest moment, happening during the opening ceremony of the National Holocaust Museum on Sunday 10th of March from 11:00 onwards! Location: Waterlooplein. Ceasefire now! End the occupation! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Are you protesting the museum itself? Absolutely not. As Jews we are happy to see the lives and stories of Shoah survivors highlighted. We are protesting the presence of Israeli President Isaac Herzog in the opening ceremony of the museum, as we believe that his presence creates a dangerous symbolism, used to legitimise the current genocide in Gaza. We also believe there are plenty of incredibly accomplished Jewish people based in The Netherlands who could have been invited instead to preform such an official act. Can I bring my country’s national flag? Unless they are the Palestinian flag, we ask you not to. The Palestinian national flag is the only national flag allowed during this moment. What kind of slogans can I bring with me? Our main goal is to demonstrate intersectional solidarity so slogans such as “Ceasefire now” “From the River to the Sea Palestine will be free” “Never again is now!” "Never again for anyone!” “Stop the genocide” "End Dutch complicity” “Free Palestine” are welcome. Be creative! However, slogans that are deemed to be islamophobic or antisemitic dog whistles will be removed immediately. I am Jewish and I don't want to come alone. How can I find other Jewish people? As we hope to gather as many Jewish people as possible. there will be a Jewish block in front of the stage. Please come find us. We will be happy to welcome you in this act of resilience I am not Jewish or Palestinian. Can I still come? Absolutely! Allies are always welcome! Do you condemn anti-semitism? Yes! In fact we reject any tropes that imply that standing with the Palestinian people is in itself, antisemitic. As Jews, we are against any type of hate speech or symbolism that frames Jews as a monolith and plays on old tropes to create more hatred against us. This will not be tolerated and we reserve the ultimate right of removal of anything/anyone disrupting this moment. How will I know where to go? The location is on the Waterlooplein, in front of the Mozes en Aäronkerk. Our team of volunteers will be there to help guide people. Please make sure to respect their requests and advice. TOGETHER WE WILL HOLD THIS SPACE WE ARE ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR EACHOTHER WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL AT 11:00 FREE PALESTINE!
