Simon DC6ST@dl2sba A 40-10m EndFed antenna with a 49:1 impedance transformer and a ~2 meter counterpoise, 5 meters of H-155 as the antenna feed cable, a #Yaesu FT-891 (mostly running at 40 watts but I dialed it up to 100 when necessary), and 3 12V/6Ah #Eremit LiFePo4 batteries.
I didn't expect the EndFed to do this well at such a low height and with all the obstructions around it. Propagation can be a very strange thing.
@pa8mm Yeah, most support just around 1C. It was quite a headache finding them since I knew from doing #POTA with my father that I wouldn't go QRP, but also didn't want to lug around much larger batteries. Now I can pack flexible between 6 and 18 Ah.
For a German company that actually develops their own battery management systems #Eremit also has quite reasonable pricing.
@pa8mm Those are from German company #Eremit. They are rated 12.8V / 6Ah / 76.8Wh and are some of the very few on the market that are rated for up to 18A of power draw in such a small form factor. Most other #LiFePo4 batteries have management systems that shut down long before that, making them unsuitable for my #Yaesu FT-891. It draws ~11A at 50 watts and ~15.5A at 100W.
