#Epikurator on Muppets 1975-81

I remember when they promoted the #MuppetShow on the Tonite Show 1 fine summer night in 1976 by having Kermit host and introduce the many new characters. Pianist Rowlf was the only one that I was already familiar with

If you have a link for it please add in a reply

My earliest recollections of Jim Henson's Muppets was the occasional late night appearance or Ed Sullivan show w/ a memorable musical comedy bit.

I was too old to enjoy the Muppets that were key to the new Sesame street that started years earlier, like BB and B&E and Count.

Id made several cassette recordings of their rare PG appearances on the first season of #SNL along with Albert Brooks' rare gems broadcast in the fall of 75. They didn't return next season, I believe at the request of Belushi.

I always looked forward to start of the show which began with the ITV theme which instantly reminded me of #Thunderbirds puppet show theme song.

I intend to ID all the #standout episodes I see

1980's #Stuntman stars #PeterOToole in one of his most intense non-literary portrayals.

It's one of the first memorable movies I saw after relocating to #SoCal

Stars #Railsbeck, #BarbaraHershey and #HalNeedham are stellar supporting actors.

It also features the world famous Coronado Hotel in many scenes.

Back then I thought it was located in FL based on its use in #SomeLikeItHot

I found out about a decade ago that it was actually located in #SanDiego near La Jolla

I noticed on a second viewing that the bloody beach scene gave me a sense of #DejaVu

I think it was filmed at the La Jolla Children's pool which was populated by dozens of seals when I beheld it for myself a couple decades ago on a 4th of July weekend when I was fortunate enough to stay at a beachside condo across the street from the park where they had the fireworks display about 20 km north of the Hotel

My little GG's first time in the ocean was at La Jolla Cove

Skip the Good.
Go for the Great

Growing up a #BoomerBurbanBoy I didnt see the unsurpassed double feature of Failsafe & Dr Strangelove until after I'd graduated college.

More than likely it was at the #Nuart revival theatre on Santa Monica Blvd rather than the #FoxVenice off of Lincoln.

There's a slight chance it could have been the #Vista or #Rialto

I suggest viewing the "comedy" first currently on Prime and then the tragic thriller at YT movies.

Both are #peak BW movies about the nuclear MAD systems that USSR and US funded from 50s to 80s.

The addition of #Wargames on Max makes an even better triple marathon that has a somewhat upbeat ending

I made analog VCR tapes once cable made recordings of great old movies w/o commercials possible and then years later before streaming eliminated many benefits of physical personal libraries some digital DVDs w/ custom jumps were burned.

#PennyMarshall hit a grandslam when she made #ALeagueOfTheirOwn 30+ya.

Another great historical baseball comedy currently streaming at YT https://youtu.be/L90eFnK1oRg?si=muUYZ9Na_bRUjia4

My reasons are too many to elucidate at this time.

Almost as many tears as #FieldOfDreams with a lot more laffs but you'll be sad when the journey back in time ends too soon

A great #DoubleFeature for the #BingoLongTravelingAllstars which had escaped my notice for almost 50y until just a few months ago

I think sisters Dot and Kit were the ones referred to in first #CaptainAmerica movie when Steve & Bucky talked about a memorable double date.

#Hope2C someone confirm if thats a real #easteregg

I was never a big fan of the young #MartinMull. I thought the songs of #RayStevens & #AllanSherman were funnier. Mull's musical recordings were unusually #sardonic for the times, but I found his later on-screen character performances to be repellent & smarmy. I finally took a shine to him in his #curmudgeon phase on the ultimately surreal #Til Death and the second #Ellen.

I #Hope2C #CBS finally make those last unaired episodes free to view.

That crazy album promo could remind one of the empty store scene in #SpinalTap, which included his almost partner, #FredWillard. More than likely this promo would have occurred in at least a half dozen cities back in early 70s. Therefore there could still be tens of thousands of his early #Boomer fans that could supply some further details.

I thought he might have possibly made a note about the promo somewhere.
I thought he'd remember it for sure because R said he'd performed his memorable #TiptoeThruTheTulips #TinyTim impression

Fans of the movie #Oppenheimer should set aside 7h to watch Sam #Waterson inhabit the roll in the 1980 BBC historical series of the same name. It's currently streaming from Roku channel.

I remember waiting for & watching it on PBS during my appointment TV years over 6 weeks back before I got my first VCR for time-shifting & commercial skipping before TIVO

The first episode covers his shrouded past and numbers 5 & 6 cover the years bookended by the 3h movie. The nuanced respectful relationship with Teller develops over several.

If you pay careful attention you might spot a youthful #PeterWeller

Great #DoubleFeature with #ABridgeTooFar

I saw it at a drive-in when it came out in summer of 64 for 20th anniversary

#RedButtons was one of the few stars I could name in the movie since he'd had his own comedy series about an underwhelming spy impersonator shortly before

#JohnWayne was about the only other star that I could name when I saw him.

Now I recognize more than a dozen of the stars and character actors

I remember #RichLittle did a skit about the scene where the Duke gets his broken foot laced up and starts screaming in agony when he tries to imitate the Duke's signature stride

That was on ABC's amazing #CopyCats series. I cant figure out why TCM never tried to secure rights to show clips between movies. Also starred the incredible #FrankGorshin right around his #Batman years

Rewatched #peak #Bond which was such a big part of my childhood if only for inspiring 2 of the funniest crazy guys to ever #collab in the creation of my #fav #60s #sitcom #GetSmart and some interesting homages like #Jethro as a DoubleNaught spy in #BeverlyHillBillies

I first saw #Goldfinger at the #Hinsdale theatre as the grand finale of a triple feature. My dad drove my younger bro and my best friend at school who lived nearby. He had a strange kind of smile when he dropped us off and told us to enjoy the movies that was different than the one he made when we saw #JasonAndTheArgonauts there. He was right

#DKoleta, a classmate was very popular the #Xmas after the movie because he got a huge table top alpine racetrack where the #AstinMartin could flee pursuit while squirting out oil in front of #Oddjob.

#EjectorSeat, rear window shield and headlight machineguns were also simulated if my memory isn't failing

Maybe someone can reply with a relevant link

I chose to watch #ABridge2Far for the 2nd time on Memorial Day

It would make an ideal #DoubleFeature with #TheLongestDay which the jaunty soundtrack reminded me of frequently

Field Marshall von Runstedt was portrayed as such a huge narcissist it got me wondering if he might have been related to D45

Both are pretty good historical movies for the time but make for only routine entertainment.

#Sahara with Bogart and Bennett is unsurpassed
and makes an ideal DF with Treasure of the Sierra Madre
which includes the incomparable Walter Huston

I had a #RomanticRival named N Shears who vied w/ me for the attention of P Peskoller from #Colonge where my group had stopped to visit the #Cathedral and see the #relic

We all stayed at the #OutwardBound #hostelhaus SE of #Füssen

He claimed that his face was visible for a moment sticking out of one of the many tanks when the Netherlands Military forces provided costumed extras

A Bridge Too Far (1977)

Composed by John Addison A Bridge Too Far is a three hour war epic in the vein of Longest Day and Battle of Britain. Instead of focusing on a major Allied victory, however, it covers the failed Ope…
