Not sure what standards are involved but I currently get electronic notices from my local Epic using hospital directly into my own cloud based EMR.

The formatting and very low signal /noise ratio of those makes the crappy 12 page printed and faxed notes look wonderfully clear and concise by comparison. 🙄

I could easily miss something important in these.

When I complain, my EMR blames #EpicEHR and hospital isn't able or willing to fix with Epic

3/3 Things you will have to figure out is

1. How to onboard as easily as possible. If it is too difficult they aren't going to bite

2. Provide a MUCH better experience. Not a marginal but so compelling that they would be dumb not to switch. This is where the past trust  comes in.

Do you have to be crazy to attempt this? YES

But to make a big change you have to be a little crazy.

2/3 The way I can see it happen is you have to start building now. Not a competitor in the beginning.

You have to start building a very niche solution that they cannot or really cannot just copy overnight. Then you gain some trust with your clients and slowly start creating an ecosystem.

Then in 6-10 years as those contracts start coming up for review you can pop in and show them your solution.
