Back to my favourite animals. Ellies make me profoundly happy.
This #Elephant cow with her ca. 3 months old calf feeds in the lush green wetland to get enough milk.

Black backed #Jackal in #Enonkishu, #MassaiMara, #Kenya. Always looking for a mouthful to pilfer from the lions or hyenas.

A #Topi #Antelope with 2 calves.
Topi hide their young in the high grass, as long as they are not able to run away from predators. They also successfully use their horns to defend calves from predators as large as hyena, but that rarely works against a whole clan or the big cats.

Those horns are really a nuisance for side-sleepers, so if you ever wonderes why African #Buffalo (a.k.a. Cape Buffalo) usually sleep on their bellies, here we go... ๐Ÿ˜‚
In case you are worried: he seemed perfectly healthy and fit, when he got up later.

#Hippo bulls can fight really viciously.

A #Topi #Antelope in its signature posture.

2 #Giraffes necking. This is how males fight for superior rank and it can be very vicious, when done in anger. Those guys are just sparring in slow motion, so no harm is done.
Interesting fact: the bony structures Giraffe bulls grow on their foreheads as they age add weight to make their swings more powerfull. They can inflict serious, even lethal damage.

Another nice pic of the same #SecretaryBird hunting. I always like multi species pictures here with Burchell's Zebra, Impala Antelope and Thomson's Gazelle in the background.

When you settle down on your favourite spot of the #MaraRiver with a book, then see this massive croc on the opposite shore and you know falling asleep is not an option ๐Ÿ˜ณ
