@quotesofnote It's been many years since I studied Hebrew, but I think the term commonly translated into English as "have dominion over" is ambiguous and can also have a sense of "to be in community with." Re the #enlightement, there's the classic text from Bacon suggesting a strategy of putting Nature on the rack so that she will reveal her secrets.

I think this approach lines up with insistence on a radically independent and self-sufficient self. #Whitehead is much better.
