- Wood-to-coal transition was driven by deforestation & higher energy density

- Coal mines opened in the XVI century, but coal overtook wood only in the 1880s

- Muscle-to-steam transition took 70-80 years, despite the availability of coal

- Market forces began to increasingly drive or impede transitions

Time is short, but even markets are now pointing to #renewables. We can win this transition as well!
