Small Modular #Nuclear Reactors (SMRs) have been hyped as a climate crisis solution, but the reality is more complex. Despite claims of affordability and safety, there are serious concerns. Here are five key facts the nuclear industry isn't telling you:
1. SMRs are not necessarily cheaper than large reactors.
2. They may not be safer or more secure.
3. SMRs don't solve the radioactive waste problem.
4. Reliability for off-the-grid power is questionable.
5. SMRs aren't inherently more fuel-efficient.
Realistic assessment is crucial for our energy future. The nuclear bros' exaggerated claims only divert attention from vital challenges. #SMR #EnergyFacts #auspol #renewables #renewableenergy #nuclearpower
