Yesterday EnergyAustralia replaced my meter with a smart meter.
Today I received a survey from them, asking how likely I was to recommend a smart meter to my family 🤯

1: I didn't have any say in whether I wanted the meter replaced.
2: Wouldn't family living with me be using the same meter?

The prior communications went:
Meter will be replaced between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm

Then, an SMS "The installer is on the way, 1 minute away"

EnergyAustralia apologises over offsets after #greenwashing lawsuit https://www.smh.com.au/environment/sustainability/energyaustralia-apologises-over-offsets-after-greenwashing-lawsuit-20250516-p5lzpd.html ““Today, #EnergyAustralia acknowledges that #carbonoffsetting is not the most effective way to assist customers to reduce their emissions and apologises to any customer who felt that the way it marketed its Go Neutral products was unclear,” it said. “Storing carbon in plants is not equivalent to keeping it stored in #fossilfuels (by not burning those fossil fuels in the first place).”

Seems #EnergyAustralia is fubar’d. Website dead, power outage here. Seeing #Citipower reporting #outage, guessing they’re the actual supplier. Guess I’ll try and go back to sleep after muting the UPSes.

InfluenceMap report found 87% of Australia’s🇦🇺 biggest firms and industry groups say they support #ClimateAction, but only 35% actually supported progressive climate policy in recent government consultations.

“Fossil fuel giants like #Woodside and #Santos, as well as electricity retailers such as #EnergyAustralia and #OriginEnergy, are all at risk of “net-zero greenwashing” practices, the report found.”

Corporates road blocking climate reforms despite net zero pledges

Some of Australia’s largest corporations have been accused of “playing both sides of the ball” on climate change.

Vampire appliances are all of your items that drain energy when left on standby mode, even when they’re not in use. If you switch off your TV but still see the red light, for example, it has gone into standby mode.
So, how much is standby mode costing you?
Standby power can be responsible for up to 10 per cent of your #energy bill, according to #EnergyAustralia

Will turning appliances off at the powerpoint save me money?

It won’t magically cut your power bills in half, but it can be one of the easiest ways to save money.

#EnergyAustralia Is misleading 1 year benefit period with new plans. It only means 1 year guaranteed discount but the electricity & gas rates are not fixed.

Whatever happened to people taking pride in their work? People trying to do their jobs to the best of their ability?

People wanting to provide an exceptional service for their customers?

The levels of incompetence and lack of professionalism that I am seeing on a daily basis leave me gasping for breath.

I just can't understand why people just don't give a fuck about their jobs any more.

to name and shame but a few.

Just had an Energy Australia meter reader sitting down the side of my house, looked like he was vaping, and he was definitely spitting on the ground!
