Wildlife population has decreased by 73% in just the last 50 years. Animals are here WITH us, not FOR us. #wildlife #endangeredanimals #protectourplanet #wildlifeconservation

Much like this mandrill, we humans are primates too, and we rely on eye contact, along with body language, for 80% or more of our communication.

Sadly, the list of species that went #extinct due to human influence has been expanded by one entry: The #SlenderBilledCurlew, a migratory #bird once native to Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Arabian Peninsula, has been officially declared extinct.
Recently, however, there also have been some good news regarding the #conservation of #endangered #birds, such as the rediscovery of the #NightParrot and the #JerdonsCourser.
So, it's not impossible that the enigmatic slender-billed curlew might still have survived somewhere - regardless, my heart bleeds for any #animal facing #extinction because of humans, and it will take an active effort to prevent more species from suffering this fate.

Without Jane Goodall, chimps need new champions — us

Goodall revolutionized the way we see both great apes and ourselves. We can’t let her legacy fade away.

A new list of the 25 most threatened primates has been published by the International Primatological Society, which held its 30th congress in Madagascar in July.

More than 40% of primate species are classed as endangered or worse. Some species are absent from the latest list thanks to an improved outlook, but others have been displaced only because of the deteriorating situation for others.
