I just spent a week driving on busy roads and highways in Central California

Then I flew back home and drove I35E from Love Field to Denton

In that 30-mile trek, it was crystal clear why someone is injured in a car wreck in Texas every two minutes, and why we have a higher rate of deaths per mile driven than most everywhere in the country

Way too many Texas motorists are completely and utterly terrible drivers

It feels futile to hope for it but let’s #EndTheStreak

@jik or you could ride just 6 miles to the store like the father of our three teenage kids and just never come home.

It’s really not a numbers game

#EndTheStreak

@davidzipper this is because if people don’t fly (and they won’t if this persists) a big sector of our economy crashes

But if someone dies on the road - and in Texas someone (including my late husband) has died every single day in a car crash for nearly 25 years - someone might get a small insurance payout and everyone else just keeps driving

It’s stunningly callous
