#Palestine defenders on Thursday condemned Israeli forces’ raidb of the latest #GlobalSumudFlotilla—which was sailing off the Greek coast while attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to #Gaza—and the arrest of more than 200 of its participants, with some prominent critics calling the seizure an act of piracy.

#Greenpeace International—whose MY Arctic Sunrise is the flotilla’s most prominent ship—said that the maritime convoy’s 58 vessels were “boarded and harassed by #Israeli forces in international waters 45 nautical miles west of the Greek island Kythira and 600 nautical miles from Gaza.”

After hours spent carefully preparing her cakes, Abrar Abdu stood stunned in silence before her oven.

In her small, darkened workshop in #Gaza City, the only light came from her phone’s torch, illuminating more than 27 ruined cakes - the result of a sudden #power cut and a faulty oven.

Abdu, 34, who runs a small cake business in the #Palestinian enclave, was forced to apologise to customers after failing to deliver their orders, refund every payment and absorb the full cost of the wasted ingredients.

A few days ago, I was walking with a friend through the tents in al-Mawasi, southern #Gaza. We were heading to a small cafe I have frequented since my roof became fabric.

The ground beneath us was mud, the winter air heavy, and the faces around us heavier still. We were talking about the formation of the #US-led “Board of Peace”, in a phase of the so-called ceasefire that is supposedly defined by stability and reconstruction.

At that exact moment, the sound of an explosion tore through the air. We stopped talking, and I found myself asking: how is this a ceasefire? How can peace be declared while explosions still echo above our heads?

Eighteen defendants allegedly involved in a #PalestineAction raid on an Israeli-owned arms factory in the #UK will no longer face charges of aggarvated burglary, after six others were acquitted of the same charges.

At Woolwich Crown Court in London on Wednesday, prosecutor Deanna Heer KC said the Crown Prosecution Service had "reconsidered the sufficiency of the evidence" and would offer no evidence on that charge.

The 18 will continue to face other charges in connection with the alleged raid.
