A dance fly from Lorne, Australia.
The "vignetting" is actually just the shape of a small green leaf behind the subject, and I had to place the camera just right to make that work.
The Common #Lilac (#SyringaVulgaris) is making it smell very good outside. <3
Haven't seen the #Empididae flies with a weird mating behaviour, which these attract, this year yet.

@Teryl_Pacieco that story reminded me of the weird #matingRitual of some #Empididae (#daggerFlies or #balloonFlies; sometimes also called #danceFlies) that I witnessed (and photographed) in the summer of 2010:
«Some Empididae […] have an elaborate #courtship ritual in which the male wraps a prey item in silk and presents it to the female to stimulate copulation.»
