@MPgh They are an impressive animal...Elk Island is an amazing place to see them...here's a shot of one from a couple years prior to the above that got out of the contained area...we had a park ranger close by keeping an eye on him, but he just ate his way across the view...and I added a couple more...all from Labour Day Weekend 2008...

The Beaver Hills Biosphere lives up to its name; these industrious little engineers continue to shape and reshape the landscape year-after-year.

I find birds very relatable: Wake up and immediately get the urge to start screaming.

Photos of the bear in question as it wandered through the site. That's my bike against the picnic table, my tent was just out of frame to the right behind the trees; I took these from the day use shelter.

Sorry, bear butt is the best I could get, it was uninterested in me entirely, probably trying to not be noticed.

Back home now. I ended up having to call for a car ride back home. The constant 30kph winds with gusts up to 60kph (by my estimate) were just too much to try to ride into for a full 49km.

Thankfully my partner was great about picking me up, and it's only about a 35 min drive.

Still had a pretty good time, though. The west side of #ElkIslandNP is so beautiful. Plus all the spring rain seems to have led to a good year for froggos.
