1) Whether or not #DonaldTrump posts #bond, can appeal either way. If he posts, #TishJames can't start collecting til after all are appeals done. If he doesn't, she can start collecting in 10 days
2) Amount that was reduced today is not final amount owed; still owes $454M. He only has to post now $175M. he's getting temp break; doesn't undermine final judgment. Appeals court ultimately may say rest of it comes down, but that's yet to be determined.

The situation with Maine's Secretary of State #ShennaBellows is – from a legal standpoint – beyond bizarre.

I understand the desire to remove #Trump from the ballot, but I fail to see how a non-lawyer, non-judge, would have the authority to unilaterally remove someone from the ballot.

Moreover, on Thursday #CNN legal analyst #ElieHonig was on #AndersonCooper360 and said that Bellows’ decision to bar Trump from the #ballot was based on “YouTube clips, news reports” and “things that would never pass the bar in normal court.”

Honig argued that Trump has a good case that he did not receive #DueProcess. “Were there processes, were the hearings fair? … Did they comport with due process?”

#Bellows based her decision on #YouTube clips?

The optics on this are terrible. This kind of idiocy will only push more people from the center away from #Biden and towards Trump. When it comes to #authoritarian actions, this one takes the cake.
