Bill Laswell revealed that his manager Roger Trilling originally recorded the phrase "Ahhhhh, this stuff is really fresh", during some studio sessions. According to both Laswell and Roger Trilling himself, the later was imitating a record executive who would reportedly exclaim "this stuff is really fresh!" whenever he heard a song he liked.
This sampled imitation of an executive by Trilling was spoken through a vocoder.
"Change the Beat" by Beside & Fab 5 Freddy became one of the three most sampled vinyl in history, appearing in over 2600 tracks as of 2022.
