Why is Claude an Electron App?

If code is free, why aren’t all apps native?

Drew Breunig

OK, wow. #Simplenote v2.22 has been released! FINALLY. v2.21 was released in Oct 2021 ffs. It's my quick note taking app of choice - works on every platform (as opposed to #Drafts), instant syncing, supports markdown, tags and workable checkboxes and is completely free. https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/blob/trunk/RELEASE-NOTES.md

Edit: mmkay, it's a prerelease apparently. Should be out officially soon. Hopefully this century. https://github.com/Automattic/simplenote-electron/releases

Google now doesn't allow sign in from what they call "non-standard" browsers. In this case, it's breaking an #ElectronApp.
Question is that should we accept that now a company is deciding what browsers are allowed to be used?
