Alabama lawmakers have approved a plan for new U.S. House primaries if courts allow the state to use different congressional districts in this year’s elections. Republican state senators gave final approval to the legislation Friday, sending it to Republican Gov. Kay Ivey. The action in Alabama came on the same day that the Virginia Supreme Court dealt a major setback to Democrats by overturning a redistricting plan that could have helped Democrats win as many as four additional House seats. The Alabama bill could set aside the results of the May 19 primaries, if courts lift an injunction requiring it to use a map with two districts that have large Black populations.

The #DOJ has claimed it is investigating “irregularities that occurred during the 2020 presidential election in the County” & identified 2 laws that were supposedly violated. One requires #election records to be maintained for 22 months, while the other prohibits procuring, casting or tabulating false, fictitious or fraudulent ballots.

The #FederalGovernment can keep the #2020election ballots from #Georgia’s #FultonCounty that were seized by the #FBI from a warehouse near #Atlanta, a judge ruled Wednesday.

US District Judge JP Boulee’s decision came after lawyers for the county had argued that the #ballots & other #election materials, as well as any electronic copies the #DOJ has made, should be returned because the seizure was improper & #unconstitutional.
