Today we closed on selling my elderly parent's condo. 6 months ago we moved him to assisted living. The amount of stuff we've needed to do for him in the last 6 months, all apart from his medical care, has been kind of incredible. He probably has undiagnosed ADHD, and aging has not helped his executive function. His problem-solving skills are located in 1985: he would start with the yellow pages, and doesn't really have a next strategy after that. With the sale of the house, I hope we've turned a corner on what kinds of caregiving we're doing. My husband and I got take-out Japanese food tonight to celebrate, because we're very boring and that was the best realistic thing we could think of.
