Joseph Schwartz, Fatally-Negligent Nursing Home Owner Pardoned by Don Trump, Owes Patient Families Millions. Like Don: Unaccountable. Does not pay bills, even judicial judgements. Kill a granny, buy a pardon. Kill more grannies.

A state program to protect frail elders has the power to uproot and place them against their will in facilities cited for health violations.

The yoghurt delivery women combatting loneliness in Japan

As loneliness deepens in one of the world's fastest-ageing nations, a network of women delivering probiotic milk drinks has become a vital source of routine, connection and care.

My brother and I took our stepfather's 40+ year old Atari and Commodore over to his assisted living, and got at least a couple games working on the Atari. These computers have moved to at least 3 states and several more houses/apartments than that. Just seeing them there will make my stepfather happy because it makes him think he'll play them in the future, but I'm hoping he actually will. #eldercare #computers
Today I was over at the assisted living that my elderly parent lives at. One of the residents tried to set me up (for a date) with one of the employees. She started off the conversation with "Are you married to a woman?" For context, I'm nonbinary, but female-presenting. She went on to say she thought I would be really good with one of the women who comes to work there. I had to disappoint her by telling her I am married, to a man, and I plan to stick with the person I'm with. I thought it was a really sweet conversation, and I'm pleased that an elderly nursing home resident, possibly with dementia, not only has no problem with gay relationships, but wanted to set me up with somebody. Sometimes I forget that people now in their 80's may well have been hippies and may still be open-minded hippies at heart. My husband also thinks it was a sweet conversation. #eldercare
Uncle had a doctor appointment Monday. I just found out he missed the appointment because the transport van took him to the wrong address. Either the transport company got the rides mixed up, or there were two vans picking up at Uncle's building and he got in the wrong one. 🤦 He's an unreliable narrator so it's impossible for me to tell which is the truth, and from past experience I know attempting to find out from the transport company would be a waste of my time. 🫤

🗣️ Attended the Milano Senior Center’s annual Open House today in Melrose, MA. A great reminder of why senior centers matter.

Every class—movement, balance, strength, creativity, social activities—works together to support the whole person.

But the biggest benefit isn’t measured in reps or steps:

🎯Social connection.

It’s the foundation of healthy aging and what keeps people engaged, supported, and smiling.😅

LRT: Not to mention the fact that, regardless of our relationships with our parents, most of us simply do not have the skills or availability or the finances to provide adequate care.

I am 57, broke, and disabled. My 79 year old disabled mother needs 24/7/366 care, and she cannot afford to pay for it. Neither my brother or sister are competent.

This is a job for professionals, it should be financed by #government. Anything we can actually *do*, we can afford. #aging #eldercare #healthcare
