Had a rare moment of suitably snappy comeback earlier today.

As I passed an older couple shopping in an aisle, the woman said "Oh, cute!" and then stammered a bit as she tried to get the man's attention from the shelves and towards me, as she continued with "That thing, I mean. That's cute."

Me: "Oh, that's okay, I'm cute, too." 😀

She looked slightly mortified and then relieved when I continued, "Seriously though, thanks. I just finished this design a few weeks ago and I'm rather happy with it."

🙂

@JustinDerrick

In principle I'd like to agree but since I've had to be at appointments no less than weekly throughout this pandemic, some of which are at hospital-based clinics, I am very much NOT interested in having to fight to keep my #ElastomericMask on because the gov't ordained baggy blue procedure masks instead.

It's the one bonus of our current conspiratorial-oriented gov't: they blocked the ability for masks to be required anywhere. It sucks, but it also means I can keep mine ON.

Over the past several months, I have had to have multiple types of #MedicalImaging performed, all of which related to my head.

I wore an #ElastomericMask for each session.

As I've mentioned practically-endlessly, I am #ActuallyDisabled and have a number of #ChronicHealth conditions to manage as well. I have been doing so for over 40 years, including surviving complex stuff like #Lupus and #BreastCancer.

Critical to my ongoing survival is to ensure I do my best to protect *me* during an ongoing pandemic where #PublicHealth has completely abdicated their purpose to protect us all.

So I wear an #ElastomericMask, everywhere.

Coda:

I've genuinely never understood the stuff about #masks 'hiding' smiles. Is Big #Botox behind that? Because it seems to me that I've had NO trouble telling people are smiling with masks on. Smiles involve LOTS of bits of the face.

And I routinely wear a large 3M #elastomericMask, smile reflexively all the time, and am met in return by smiles from masked and unmasked people alike.

Personally--I'm not sure I even *want* to see #smiles that are limited to the mouth. 😬
