After my pilgrimage to Finch West last week, it was time to discover Eglinton West through Line 5 LRT on a beautiful Saturday

-It’s very fast underground
-Stations are very deep (and cold!)
-Spacing of stops seems adequate

Waiting 10min for the next train feels long when you’re used to the subway, especially since the timing of the next train signs are entirely wrong still months after opening (and Transit app also doesn’t work underground)

I am watching a video of the Line 5 Eglinton Crosstown. It doesn't look like signal priority is fully rolled out yet here. The speed on the above ground section is comparable to the buses. But I do notice they are treating the line as a proper service frequency befitting for Toronto, with trains every 2 to 3 minute at 10:30AM, compared to every 6-12 mins for Finch West. So good job on the TTC for that. I expect more improvements in the next months.

I just rode the newly-opened Eglinton Crosstown from Kennedy to Mount Dennis. Aside from some slowness at the Scarborough end (expected, since signal priority won’t be done until May) it was a smooth ride. Nice acceleration. The feeling is much more like a subway than a streetcar.

Time from Kennedy to Yonge: 36 minutes. To Mount Dennis: 53 minutes. Felt a helluva lot faster than the bus used to.
