Painting Easter eggs is a Hungarian tradition that we have maintained over the years. They are painted today, Good Friday, and will be given out on Easter Monday - more on that later. The eggs have traditional Hungarian motifs/patterns drawn on them with a special wax pen, and then are soaked in the coloured water. Lastly they are rubbed with fat - usually pork, so that they have a lovely sheen.
