The housing market in the #uk appears to have changed radically towards the end of the 1990s. Earlier despite fluctuations the level of house prices did not change much in relation to prices in general - it seems to have been roughly the same under #johnmajor as it had been under #edwardheath . It then tripled in less than a decade. Across the #uk it is still two and a half times the previous level while in #london it is close to four times. This divergence occurred after 2008.
