While the shortest day of the year is now behind us, the days remain short, and those early morning classes can still feel challenging. Based on our ongoing discussion, we recognise how functioning within the neoliberal university requires a disconnect from our bodies, even more so if you do not fit the definition of an "ideal worker". Yes, we see all our and your racialised, queer, menstruating, neurodivergent or disabled bodies in this space and reaffirm the importance of our collective experiences and knowledge. In this short, online survey, weβd love to hear about your academic 'wintering' practices. How do you navigate the season with your students? What strategies, small comforts, or creative approaches help make teaching, learning, and simply being at the university more enjoyable during these chilly months? What fosters inclusion and well-being, for all? Please share your tips, stories, and ideas with us by completing this online form. We plan to publish contributions as an open-access publication on the Pedagogies for Social Justice Blog! We're brewing some extra hot chocolate and eagerly looking forward to your contributions. Deadline for submissions: 31 January 2025 Stay warm, The Academic Wintering Practices Project Team Annapurna Menon, University of Sheffield - [email protected] Kelsea Costin, University of Westminster - [email protected] Sandra Abegglen, University of Calgary - [email protected]
