What is Resilience? And Few Strategies for Helping Children

Resilience is the capacity to defy, manage, and bounce back from perceived defeat or disappointment. How students learn to handle hurdles will have a lasting effect on their coming professions.Helping children build their resilience is one of the most substantial support a parent can give to their children. We all understand how life can throw in many challenges and how critical it is to learn how to handle them. Resiliency is taking life's challenges, trauma, or hardships and hopping back from

The article outlines Søren Dinesen Østergaard's warning that outsourcing reasoning to generative AI risks a cognitive debt that could undermine scientific discovery. It cites EEG findings showing reduced brain activation when using AI and reports of learning and recall problems linked to AI use. The discussion extends to broader educational consequences and the need for humans to retain independent reasoning in the age of AI.

It highlights how cognitive offloading and AI-assisted thinking influence learning, judgment, and decision making, topics central to cognitive and educational psychology. The piece references empirical studies on neural activation, critical thinking, and perceived competence, illustrating how technology shapes cognition and self-assessment.

Vụ học sinh giật tóc, xô ngã cô giáo: Cần can thiệp tâm lý thay vì trừng phạt

Theo chuyên gia, hành vi bạo lực của học sinh lớp 7 không đơn thuần là nổi loạn mà có thể là hậu quả của những bất ổn tâm lý âm ỉ, tích tụ suốt thời gian dài.

Placing full control with the learner is problematic; what learners prefer isn't always what's best for them. Excessive choice can be frustrating, and learners may stick to tasks they already like or are proficient in. #EducationalPsychology

Kids aren’t built for 7 hours of desk time—and honestly, I’m not sure anyone is. Learning emerges around attention rhythms, cognitive cycles, and developmental stages. Part of our goal is to help our kids notice how their minds work, so they can learn when and how to engage, rest, or refocus—on their terms.

A Pedagogy of Empowerment : Adapting Strategies to Enhance Retention at Hispanic-Serving Institutions

Abstract: This study investigates strategies to address retention challenges faced by Latine students at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) in the United States by examining successful educational approaches implemented by the Instituto Nacional para la Educación de los Adultos (INEA) in Mexico. Grounded in Freirean principles of empowerment and inclusion, the research aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). Through qualitative analysis of 183 interviews conducted in Guanajuato and Cuautla, key themes emerged, including “apoyo” (support), flexibility, empowerment, persistence, and mentorship. Participants highlighted the significance of collectivist support systems, culturally relevant pedagogy, and community engagement in fostering academic success. While recognizing the contextual differences between adult learners in Mexico and Latine students at HSIs, this study identifies adaptable strategies, such as peer mentoring, family engagement, and faculty training in culturally responsive teaching to address systemic barriers. The findings emphasize the interconnectedness of economic and cultural factors in retention and the critical need for holistic, evidence-based interventions. By tailoring these insights to the US educational context, this research provides actionable recommendations to enhance retention rates, promote equity, and empower Latine students within HSIs.

Impact and Implications:

This study reveals how culturally rooted teaching and support strategies from Mexico can help US colleges improve success rates for Latine students. By promoting mentorship, family involvement, and inclusive teaching, the findings support global goals for quality education and reduced inequality. We have aligned the findings with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Quality Education (SDG 4) and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), which provide a global context for addressing educational inequities.

The educator panic over AI is real, and rational.
I've been there myself. The difference is I moved past denial to a more pragmatic question: since AI regulation seems unlikely (with both camps refusing to engage), how do we actually work with these systems?

The "AI will kill critical thinking" crowd has a point, but they're missing context.
Critical reasoning wasn't exactly thriving before AI arrived: just look around. The real question isn't whether AI threatens thinking skills, but whether we can leverage it the same way we leverage other cognitive tools.

We don't hunt our own food or walk everywhere anymore.
We use supermarkets and cars. Most of us Google instead of visiting libraries. Each tool trade-off changed how we think and what skills matter. AI is the next step in this progression, if we're smart about it.

The key is learning to think with AI rather than being replaced by it.
That means understanding both its capabilities and our irreplaceable human advantages.

AI isn't going anywhere. Time to get strategic:
Instead of mourning lost critical thinking skills, let's build on them through cognitive delegation—using AI as a thinking partner, not a replacement.

This isn't some Silicon Valley fantasy:
Three decades of cognitive research already mapped out how this works:

Cognitive Load Theory:
Our brains can only juggle so much at once. Let AI handle the grunt work while you focus on making meaningful connections.

Distributed Cognition:
Naval crews don't navigate with individual genius—they spread thinking across people, instruments, and procedures. AI becomes another crew member in your cognitive system.

Zone of Proximal Development
We learn best with expert guidance bridging what we can't quite do alone. AI can serve as that "more knowledgeable other" (though it's still early days).
The table below shows what this looks like in practice:

Critical reasoning vs Cognitive Delegation

Old School Focus:

Building internal cognitive capabilities and managing cognitive load independently.

Cognitive Delegation Focus:

Orchestrating distributed cognitive systems while maintaining quality control over AI-augmented processes.

We can still go for a jog or go hunt our own deer, but for reaching the stars we, the Apes do what Apes do best: Use tools to build on our cognitive abilities. AI is a tool.
