Nick FSide note: I only found out about When Billy Met Alasdair thanks to the #EdinburghFringe hashtag on Mastodon (and thanks to @MacNaBracha in particular for posting about it). I find Alasdair Gray fascinating so it was a must-watch for me, but I would almost certainly have missed it if I hadn't seen it here.
It's really great that Mastodon is now widely-used enough to be useful for finding this sort of thing!
On the topic of Edinburgh, I saw another excellent play: When Billy Met Alasdair - a one-man show inspired by a photograph of Billy Connolly at the book launch of Lanark, by Alasdair Gray, in 1981.
Alan Bissett is very good in both roles, and the play has an enjoyable nod to Lanark in its structure, and is both a touching biography and a musing on art and perseverance.
Again, only on for 3 more days. Recommended!

Very cool to see posters for my sister's (excellent) show all around Edinburgh. Obviously I'm biased, but it's been getting good reviews, including a 4 star one from The Times.
