Strange and Wondrous: Notes from a Science Historian
Wonderful memories from my first #EdBookFest: dazed, amazed, thrilled, and wishing I'd stayed for much longer (next time!). Photos from some of the events I attended - plus the badge, or what I call the “feel like a princess for the day” talisman! 1/n 💙📚 🗃

A double helping of #FeministFringe at #EdBookFest tonight, with Deborah Frances White and Laura Bates.

Both events examined the risks for women and children in navigating poorly-regulated online social spaces and highlighted the failures of both providers to make their products safe and governments to legislate for better standards.

Social media fosters extremism, making the world less safe so that a few billionaires can get richer.

We all deserve better than this.

More scenes from #EdBookFest, where I got to meet the novelist Madeleine Thien! Also a ticket to my event with @nicolakellywrites.bsky.social #Booksky

A Climate of Truth by Mike Berners-Lee review – a white-hot takedown of environmental policy

The climate professor is justified in identifying the thinktanks, fossil fuel companies and politicians responsible for exacerbating the climate crisis but his list of remedies is underpowered
