I've made significant progress in my #solar power project. I drilled a one inch hole through my house (through 5.5 inches of wood) and now have two of my panels (350 Watts and still temporarily installed) feeding my #ecoflow battery system.

The batteries are currently only running my hot water because that was really easy to unplug and plug into the inverter.

Next step is to get some panels permanently mounted on the roof. That won't be fun.

What's the deal with portable solar panels?

Context: I'm looking to move further into the Mexican countryside (I'd be renting a house) where I'm told power outages are more frequent. I'm debating between no-break/UPS battery vs a proper #OffGrid setup vs a #PortableSolar setup.

An off-grid setup seems formidably expensive, especially for a rented house, but does it make sense to get a portable battery + panel from, say, #Ecoflow (I see they have options in Mexico)? Their portable panels are priced significantly higher than fixed solar panels though.

Weil meine Batteriespeicher Mittags nicht vom Netz vollladen wollte, obwohl Abends der Preis auf 56 cent geht, habe ich gerade den Modus von "intelligent" auf zeitlich geplant umgestellt, quasi um die Planung zu überschreiben. Später schalte ich zurück.

Die #Ecoflow Software ist echt nicht das Gelbe vom Ei.

Ich habe einen AC Stream Pro und einen Ultra aktuell ohne PV bei Tibber am Netz.

Der "Intelligente" Planer sagt, er würde jetzt entladen, weil teuer.

Die Geräte laden aber gerade... obwohl teuer. 🫰
Da fehlt echt ein "ich weiß es besser"-Button.

Edit. Die neue Batterie dachte sie zieht Solar, obwohl die Anschlüsse nicht belegt sind. Clever.

Hmm ... guess it's no surprise that Ecoflow are completely sold out of their "balcony solar" packages and ground mounting solutions ahead of any upcoming legislation changes.

I do hope they've gone to folks that will use them rather than some infuriating scalpers or something.

I have a probably too-complex setup to charge my #EcoFlow battery when power generation is below an average fossil fuel percentage.

I also have a 3D printer that draws more power than I'd like while heating, so my goal is to run it entirely off the battery so as to not disrupt anything else on the circuit. If you give the EcoFlow AC power, it will charge at the load + charge limit. You can't just tell it to charge at X watts no matter what.

Well, it seems like the charging automations are triggering while printing (which is not supposed to happen), which tells the EcoFlow integration to reload, which shuts off the AC ports. The EcoFlow integration runs off of Bluetooth and I've had some reliability issues in the past. Guess I can't just reload it all the time.

Thus, failed print attempts. Meh.
