One of my favourite shops in #Melbourne is the Abra Card Abra Roycroft Antiquarian Bookshop in East Kew.

It's a wonderful little shop that's been there for over 30 years. It's packed with a fantastic collection of all types of ephemera including books, postcards, posters and newspapers. I especially enjoyed looking around the obscure local history paraphernalia from places as far afield as Queensland and New Zealand.

If you are ever close by make sure you pop in to the shop and have a look around. It's at 680 High Street in Kew East.

This is a #queenslandpine and they grow in abundance in various areas here in #melbourne. Especially in reserves and parklands.

This one’s in #Tooronga.

And look at this beautiful new lush growth!

These leaves; almost thorn like, get really sharp at the point when they mature. Once the tree sheds them whole - connecting branch and leaves (like speers) they dry and become brown and eventually act as mulch. Now, these ARE sharp!

The branches that connect the leaves are very woody and are adorned with coarse bark.

These trees are certainly intriguing.

Gosh #Grevillia grows well in #Australian conditions. Especially during hot summers!

Been keeping my eye on this one.

I’ve taken pics of these before (same bush) and after a month it’s still flowering strong.

And it looks as if there are weeks left in these flowers, still!

I just love it.

Look at these healthy and happy #smoothhydrangea - they look as if they’ve been cared for meticulously throughout the summer heat.

I love how the leaves are well hydrated and healthy. Also the colour is similar all round, it really is a classy plant this one.

This #Japanesemeadowsweet is gorgeous, right?

It is also known as a #Japanesespiraea.

This shrub is native to Japan, China, and Korea. Apparently it prefers full sun, but can tolerate partial shade. Grows up to 2 metres in diameter.

This one in #EastKew #Melbourne is in its final stages of flower (see pic 3), but there were some late blooming flowers that displayed just beautifully!
