Hmmm. It's probably nothing. Earthquake swarms aren't unusual here.

Yeah, I probably have to eat my words. My volcano-tracking app doesn’t include any active seamounts that aren’t on plate boundaries, so it very likely could be missing others. This very well could be an undersea volcanic eruption.

Or do I have the location wrong, and this swarm is indeed due to an undersea eruption? #earthquake #earthquakes #EarthquakeSwarm #VancouverIsland #Cascadia #CascadiaSubductionZone #PNW #geology #volcano

Any geologists out there that can provide details on the swarm of moderate earthquakes west of Vancouver Island?

I’m aware that there’s a new undersea volcano forming (eee!), but that’s west of there, on the Pacific Plate. This swarm is on the Juan de Fuca Plate.

Odd earthquake swarm in Central Europe hints at magma bubbling below the surface

An odd earthquake swarm has struck the region between the Czech Republic and Germany, far from any tectonic plate boundary.

Why did I decide to move here again…I know it’s probably rebound from seasonal melt - or the opposite from recent snowfall - but I’m regretting not following my geologically-aware gut.
