It's January 9th and we had 61F weather today. I took the day off to run around in the woods and found many interesting things. I was not expecting to look down and spot another species of earthstar! I am having a frustrating time identifying them, considering how relatively sparse the information I can find about them online is. Could they be Tiny Earthstar or Dwarf Earthstar? (Geastrum minimum or Geastrum schmidelii?) Something completely different? I wish I knew. They were comfortable nestled in the circle of an old stump that had rotted down into the ground.
