The real reason the Boy Scouts disappeared
As a former Eagle Scout, there is a reason i did not enroll my son into scouting.

Scouting for me has proven invaluable as an adult. The problem solving, the leadership skills, the ability to adapt, and most importantly: how to be a true citizen in a global community.
Scouting made the decision to embrace the dogma of the current administration and cave to the extremist Christian running the Department of Defense. But part of me held out hope that they would stay true to the new vision and not fall back into an old pattern that promoted intolerance, and exclusion.
It is with a heavy heart that I formally renounce my Eagle Scout award.
Baden Powell said “There is no teaching to compare with example.” As such I am formerly renouncing my Eagle Scout and returning the patch and the medal to Scouting. TO be clear I am not leaving scouting, scouting left me. I will always remember my time in Troop and Post 153, San Carlos, California but no longer wish to be part of an organization that folds on its core values without even a fight

Hey #ScoutingAmerica, please explain to this #EagleScout exactly which portions of the Citizenship in Society #MeritBadge are in conflict with #ExecutiveOrder 14173.
Please also explain how the #FirstAmendment permits the federal government to dictate the #Scouting curriculum of a non-profit organization comprised of US residents and citizens.

The Citizenship in Society Merit Badge will be discontinued effective Friday, February 27, 2026. Beginning on February 27, 2026, Scouts will no longer be able to start requirements on the Citizenship in Society Merit Badge. Those Scouts who had already started and completed any requirements for the merit badge will be allowed the rest of […]
#BoyScouts (or just Scouts now, I guess) have never been a perfect organization, but speaking as an #EagleScout I've got to say that they instilled many values I pride myself in today.
"A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent."
Our military has divorced itself from those values of late.

Eagle Scout here. If Boy Scouts agrees to this bullshit coming from Taliban Pete then I will renounce my Eagle Scout rank and make it a mission to make sure that scout troops lose access to public building in my area because it is contrary to the values of OUR community.
Scouting needs to show the very same leadership they claim to impart on our kids here

I’m extremely proud and honored to serve on the Greater Colorado Council executive board. I am proud and honored to serve on all the boards I serve on. I believe if given that honor, I need to uphold my and the organization's values. If they ask me to serve, then my duty is to serve, to attend, listen, follow, and lead. I carry those issues, values, and goals with me everywhere I go. https://rec-law.us/22vzvs8b

Joe’s acceptance speech was awesome. He thanked the board for helping him through Scouting as a youth. I know that no board members at that breakfast were on the board when Joe was a young scout, b…
#SilentSunday — after the #rain. One of our sons is doing his #EagleScout project today — trail restoration as well as some new trail construction. Scouted the space this #morning on my #run. Beautiful sycamore watching over the effort. Have a good day.

Congratulations to Ian Matthies, Thousand Oaks’ newest Eagle Scout!
For his Eagle Project, Ian led a team that built a rest area and information kiosk in Hill Canyon on Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency land, helping hikers and MTBers.
And Ian is one of only about 50 Scouts nationwide each year to earn a National Outdoor Medal, befitting his deep interest in forestry and the outdoors. Bravo Ian!
