Just completed the disassembly of another two Siemens EWSD digital telephone exchanges, which are now in a truck on their way to the Telecom Museum Dresden (Fernmeldemuseum Dresden). Largest time sink was untangling the hundreds of cables (mostly with proprietary Siemens connectors).. #retronetworking #telecom #ewsd #isdn

So, after spending two half days in a colocation filled with several decommissioned but fully complete [including software] Siemens #EWSD digital telephone exchanges, I am happy to report that two of them will be rescued. We've dumped the hard disks and done some initial disassembly. Full disassembly and relocation will happen in upcoming months. #retronetworking #isdn #TelecomHistory

Thanks to gruetzkopf we now already have 6 SDH ADM (add-drop multiplexers, specifically Ericsson/Marconi OMS860) deployed. We're using a SDH (synchronous digital hierarchy) backbone to transport the V5 interface of our #isdn between #EWSD and Access Multiplexers.
