I wonder why?
(The choice of dates here is so on-the-nose that I do wonder if this is a cynical marketing attempt, or if the data is really that clear and automated systems picked it up.)
This electric city car is designed to be repaired
21 January 2026, #RepairCaféInternational
"Want to tinker with your electric car yourself? A team of Dutch students from the Technical University proves that it is possible. They developed an electric city car that is easy to repair and therefore lasts longer.
"Users can repair the car themselves more easily and are no longer dependent on the manufacturer for minor repairs. With their ‘concept car’, the students want to inspire the car industry and at the same time challenge European policymakers.
The #FordModelT as inspiration
"One of the first successful cars for the man in the street was the iconic Ford Model T from 1908. It was an easy-to-produce model that even came with a toolkit! Now, more than 125 years later, it is time for the first electric car to focus on simplicity and repairability. Students are taking the lead in this. On 25 November, they unveiled the ARIA: a modular electric city car that you can repair yourself."

A couple hundred thousand used EVs are coming off lease this year, and they're be going available for cheap. Thanks, Biden
Very emotional incident no doubt but I wouldn't condemn the entire brand for a faulty battery.
All #EVs are susceptible to problems due to the failure of the "backup" 12v battery.
I had a #Prius that died because of that but entry into the car was much easier than in the Lyriq & I replaced the battery myself
The #VW id4 Pro that I lease sometimes goes "dormant" when I don't drive it for awhile.
The 1st time it happened, I used the "hidden" key to open the driver's side door thru a hidden key slot in the door latch. The car then "woke up" when I pressed the start button.
However, I later discovered that just pressing the rear hatch latch would wake up car w/o need for using the key but, of course, this would have done no good if the 12v backup battery was dead
Moral of the story: If you own or lease an EV, learn how to get into it if the main or backup batteries fail. 🤷🏻♂️
"Now western car manufacturers are making what one former boss calls a similar “profound strategic mistake” as they pull back from electric vehicles (EVs) and refocus on the combustion engine just as oil prices are soaring once again. Experts say the industry’s future – and that of tens of millions of jobs – could be on the line."
Why western carmakers' retreat from electric risks dooming them to irrelevance
