(Adnkronos) - La parola d'ordine, in Figc, è cambiamento. L'opinione pubblica e le istituzioni (con il ministro per lo Sport e i Giovani Andrea Abodi in testa) chiedono le dimissioni del presidente della Federazione Gabriele Gravina, dopo il terzo Mondiale consecutivo fallito dalla Nazionale. A prescindere dal consenso delle componenti federali - che Gravina potrebbe aver conservato, dopo l'elezione del 2025 con il 98,7% dei consensi - le dimissioni sembrano inevitabili. Con la richiesta di cambiamento sempre all'orizzonte. Ma chi può essere il suo successore in Figc per far ripartire il movimento?
Per la successione di Gravina, oggi in pole position c'è Giovanni Malagò, ex presidente del Coni, fresco del grande successo delle Olimpiadi Invernali di Milano Cortina 2026. Il suo nome è al momento il più forte tra i possibili candidati, anche perché Malagò gode dell'appoggio della Serie A. Ieri, non a caso, il presidente del Napoli Aurelio De Laurentiis aveva fatto il suo endorsement: "Il mondo dello sport, dove c'è di mezzo anche lo Stato, è stato foriero di grandi successi. Ne abbiamo avuto riscontro alle Olimpiadi invernali e alle scorse Olimpiadi. Malagò è stato uno che ha lavorato molto bene, ineccepibile dal punto di vista professionale. Uno come lui, abituato a fare sempre il meglio perché è un grande professionista e lo ha sempre dimostrato, è uno che può dare piuttosto che prendere, è dotato di una certa umiltà. Purtroppo nel mondo che ci circonda molti vogliono essere lì per prendere, senza capire che per ricevere bisogna dare. Non c'è dubbio alcuno che se Malagò prendesse in mano il calcio italiano, quest'ultimo risalirebbe prestissimo la china".
In corsa si sono anche Giancarlo Abete, numero uno della Figc dal 2007 al 2014 (e già potenziale candidato alla presidenza della Federazione dopo il fallimento a Euro 2024, con eliminazione agli ottavi contro la Svizzera). Sullo sfondo anche Matteo Marani, presidente della Lega Pro, e Demetrio Albertini, candidatura preferita dal mondo dei calciatori. Tra gli altri nomi anche quello di Michele Uva, nominato oggi Executive Director of Euro 2032 Italia.
