Apart from how hackable it is, why does the #EUDI wallet need permission to record audio? And why does it need to read external storage, i.e. not just the apps own data (which does not require a special permission iirc)? @EUCommission

The application is online, the documents are available digitally, voting is done by email and yet the process ends at the printer. A sheet of paper travels across several desks, is signed, scanned and filed away again. Not because nobody wants to work digitally, but because one question remains unanswered at the end: Who really authorised this and is it legally binding?

Pire : le standard EUDI Wallet prévoyait du zero-knowledge. Prouver qu'on est majeur sans jamais livrer sa date de naissance. IRMA/Yivi, AnonCreds, SD-JWT VC, tout existe, en production, open source.

L'UE a écrit le bon standard. L'app de référence l'a trahi.

Paul Moore bypasse l'app de vérification d'âge de la Commission européenne en moins de 2 minutes. Le standard EUDI prévoyait du zero-knowledge. L'implémentation stocke le PIN dans un XML éditable.

This is particularly important for users of European instances - because if the #EuropeanUnion really makes age verification for social media mandatory, I suspect that a lot of admins will close their instances down rather than take on the legal risk.

Ich war ja schon länger skeptisch über den Hype um die #EUDIWallet, insbesondere aus der Bundespolitik, aber auch aus manchen Kommunalverwaltungen. Der aktuelle Referentenentwurf des Digitalministeriums scheint meine Skepsis zu bestätigen. Das könnte schlimmstenfalls die nächste DE-Mail-Zombietechnologie werden, die zwar noch in Gesetzen steht, aber schon länger nicht mehr am Markt verfügbar ist.
