Back in 2011, this was exactly the very first thing I did when I moved to Tennessee.

#EastTennessee does not have a #ContinentalClimate primarily due to its geographical features and proximity to the Gulf Coast.

The region has a humid subtropical climate, characterized by warm, humid summers and mild winters, rather than the extreme temperature variations seen in continental climates.

The #Appalachian Mountains create a "#RainShadow" effect, contributing to significant precipitation variability across the region.

Tennessee Climatology

ETSU Tennessee Climate Office

Introduction. I'm the head curator at the #GrayFossilSite, #ETSU. I do #paleontology of #quaternary #mammals like extinct #proboscideans (mastodons...err... #Mammut). #Bison and #mammoth too, but only on Thursdays.

I'm fascinated with the #paleoecology of places around me--whether #GreatPlains and #prairies or high elevation #Appalachian #GrassyBalds.

My past life in #archaeology pops up quite often, especially the origins of North American #dogs and #megafaunal #extinctions.

A great event today at the #ETSU Sherrod Library with my fellow recently tenured and/or promoted faculty. Books of our choice were given a nameplate, which will be a permanent feature in the collection. Three from our department, including me. I think this might be the first ETSU toot ever!
