BTW, #ESMARConf2025 has a panel on using LLM (or AI in general) for automating evidence synthesis (not learning how to do it):

His point is most people have little institutional support or access to knowledgeable collaborators, but chatbots can help them navigate the well-established procedures, so let's focus on everything else.

I don't have so much confidence on chatbots, but it seems like a good idea to spend more teacher time on tasks which can't be automated or relegated to a checklist

Looks like @wviechtb is too busy watching #ESMARConf2025 to mention his lecture, delivered 3 hours ago, on how to visualize heterogeneity in forest plots

From @wviechtb talk @ #ESMARConf2025 on showing heterogeneity in meta-analysis. Learned that 95% prediction interval can be visualized in a {metafor} forest plot using predictive distributions. I find it especially useful for illustrating subgroup differences!

I love auto translations. "The Tasmanian-led approach to random-effects meta-analysis". 🤨 Didn't know that there was a Tasmanian school for meta-analysis! Learning something new every day. #ESMARConf2025
Super interesting talk by James Pustejovsky (@jepusto) and Martyna Citkowicz at #ESMARConf2025 on the metaselection package, which provides cluster-robust inference methods and clustered bootstrapping to account for dependencies in selection models: https://youtu.be/2qGcVeEqtBY

#ESMARConf2025 is live now (https://www.youtube.com/@esmarconf), starting with a talk by @ASanchez_Tojar on "Practising what we preach: Rethinking standards in meta-analysis for ecology and evolution".

At 11am (CEST), I will give a talk on how to visualize the amount of heterogeneity in forest plots.

Just a reminder that #ESMARConf2025 is starting tomorrow! This is a free online conference about evidence synthesis and meta-analysis using #Rstats. Further details can be found here: https://esmarconf.org/2025/

On Thursday evening during my weekly live stream on R and statistics, I will do something meta-analysis related in connection with ESMARConf. Further details here: https://www.wvbauer.com/doku.php/live_streams
